Project story
Our relationship with Cinehome goes back many years, to when we built their very first website showcasing their smart home installation work. That site was a fully custom Processwire build, so when the Cinehome team decided to branch out into eCommerce with part of their Hi-Fi and home cinema catalogue, they came back to us. We delivered this with a simple cart solution integrated into their existing website.
After several successful years of selling online, Cinehome approached us again, this time wanting to grow their online sales into a fully dedicated store. We talked through their goals, from day-to-day order handling to promotions and payment costs, and it became clear that a brand new store built on Shopify would be the perfect fit. Shopify allowed us to create a store closely tied to their main website’s branding, while expanding their capabilities in areas such as order management, offers and marketing, and reducing their payment processing fees.
Having spent more than thirty years in the Hi-Fi and home cinema industry ourselves, we understand how enthusiasts research, compare and buy premium AV products. To deliver a seamless brand experience, we built custom templates for the new store, including dedicated templates for collection groups, all reflecting the look and feel of Cinehome’s main website. We created a custom menu system to support Cinehome’s user experience strategy, and developed custom product filtering to make the journey from arriving at the site to choosing the perfect product as friction-free as possible.
Moving over 300 products from Processwire to Shopify was a key part of the project. We built a structured migration that carried across full product descriptions, specifications and PDF data sheet links, handled price-on-application products correctly and kept items not currently for sale safely in draft. Testing with a small sample first meant everything mapped perfectly before the full import, so the catalogue arrived complete and ready to trade from day one. Finally we redirected the old shop pages to their new homes, so Cinehome kept the search rankings and link consistency they had built up over the previous years.
The new Shopify store launched in October 2026, and the first orders arrived almost immediately.
